Power Bank OEM Sourcing in China

Compare China power bank OEM and private-label suppliers by capacity (mAh and Wh), cell brand/grade, BMS protections, USB-C PD in/out, ports and protocols, enclosure and branding, MOQ, NRE, samples, UN38.3 and certification claims — buyer-side RFQ fields, not factory marketing.

Buyer context

Make the technical and commercial basis comparable first.

Power bank quotations often look similar until Wh and mAh, cell provenance, BMS protections, USB-C PD input and output, port mix, branding tier and lithium transport documents are written down. Sephalis helps buyers make those fields explicit so supplier quotations stay comparable, and keeps supplier statements separate from product certification or market-access approval. Sephalis does not manufacture power banks and does not certify electrical safety, UN38.3 or lithium shipping compliance.

What buyers usually need to compare

Use these fields to keep quotations tied to the same technical, production and packaging assumptions.

Rated capacity in both mAh and Wh (and which figure appears on the product label)

Cell brand, grade and pack configuration; no silent cell substitution after sample approval

BMS protections requested (OVP, OCP, SCP, OTP, cell balancing or other) as RFQ fields, not Sephalis guarantees

USB-C PD input (charge-in) wattage / protocol target and who states support

Output ports, protocols (PD, PPS, QC or other) and multi-port power allocation when more than one port is used

Optional wireless charging pad (yes/no, claimed watts) as a separate RFQ line if in scope

Enclosure, colour and industrial-design scope (stock housing vs custom ID / new mold)

Built-in cable only as a pack / SKU feature when required — not a substitute for a cable-only RFQ

Destination markets and labeling / marking language expectations (including Wh on label where required)

Private-label branding scope (logo method, retail box, inserts, manuals, UPC/EAN if needed)

OEM customisation tier (logo/pack only vs colour/housing vs new mold / full ODM)

MOQ by SKU and by customisation layer (product vs packaging vs tooling); sample cost and sample lead time

Production lead time, quantity breakpoints, and NRE / tooling charges

Documents to request with the quotation (spec sheet, label art with Wh, cell/BMS note, UN38.3/MSDS claims, supplier cert claims)

Evidence worth collecting before the next decision

Sephalis keeps supplier statements, technical evidence and unresolved questions separate so the buyer can see what is known and what still needs engineering or specialist review.

Written capacity and I/O specification matching the RFQ fields (buyer-verified once agreed)

Supplier statement on cell brand/grade and BMS protections (supplier claim)

Supplier statement on USB-C PD in/out, ports and protocols (supplier claim)

Product label / rating-plate artwork draft showing Wh (and mAh if used) (supplier-provided)

Packaging or private-label mock-up when branding is in scope (supplier-provided)

Written sample terms and production lead time (commercial)

Quotation with MOQ, OEM tier, NRE/tooling and exclusions (commercial)

Supplier-provided UN38.3, MSDS or other lithium transport / certificate copies where offered (supplier claim / document — not Sephalis certification or shipping approval)

Unresolved items called out explicitly: report-to-model match, measured capacity vs label Wh/mAh, cell-substitution controls, independent lab status (unknown until buyer or specialist closes them)

Commercial comparison

Separate one-time development cost from recurring unit cost.

For electronics, tooling, NRE, programming, test fixtures, artwork and prototype charges may sit outside the production unit price. A useful comparison keeps those charges visible together with MOQ, lead time, packaging and FOB terms.

Technical boundary

Supplier documents are evidence, not automatic approval.

Sephalis can collect specifications, quotations, supplier documents and samples. Formal electrical safety, radio, battery transport, engineering validation, product compliance and market-access decisions remain separate questions for the relevant specialists and authorities.

Common buyer questions

Short answers below describe the sourcing workflow rather than engineering or regulatory approval.

When should I use power-banks vs wall-chargers, power-adapters or usb-cables?

Use this page for consumer portable power banks (Wh/mAh, USB-C PD I/O, cells, BMS, enclosure and lithium docs), including MagSafe or wireless power banks. Use /electronics-sourcing-china/battery-packs for custom device/equipment Li-ion/LiFePO4 packs + BMS. Use /electronics-sourcing-china/wall-chargers for USB / GaN wall bricks. Use /electronics-sourcing-china/wireless-chargers for Qi / Qi2 desk or bedside pads, modules and multi-device wireless stations — not portable power banks. Use /electronics-sourcing-china/power-adapters for AC/DC fixed-output device PSUs (voltage, current, polarity, barrel or other non-USB DC). Use /electronics-sourcing-china/usb-cables when the RFQ is the cable alone. For in-vehicle DC USB car chargers (cigarette-lighter / hardwire) use /electronics-sourcing-china/car-chargers — not a portable pack. Keep each RFQ on the matching page so suppliers quote the same product scope.

Does Sephalis manufacture or certify power banks?

No. Sephalis is a buyer-side sourcing and supplier-research service. It helps compare manufacturers and collect specifications, quotations, samples and supplier documents. Manufacturing capability claims and any certificates remain with the supplier; formal electrical safety, UN38.3, lithium transport or market-access approval stays with the relevant specialists.

How should supplier certificates and test reports be used?

List destination markets and transport needs in the RFQ and request matching documents. Treat certificates, UN38.3 packs, MSDS and test notes as evidence to collect and review against the brief — supplier claims or documents, not automatic import or air-cargo approval or a Sephalis guarantee. If report-to-model match or independent lab status is unclear, mark that item unknown until the buyer or a specialist closes it.

How should MOQ, NRE and OEM tiers be compared?

Ask each supplier to separate logo/label-only, colour/housing and full custom/mold paths, and to split product MOQ from packaging or tooling MOQ. Record sample cost, sample lead time and NRE lines separately. A low MOQ claim is not comparable until those lines and lead times are written down.

Why must both Wh and mAh appear in the RFQ?

mAh alone hides pack voltage and is hard to compare across chemistries and series/parallel layouts. Asking for both mAh and Wh (and which figure will appear on the label) keeps suppliers answering the same capacity brief before price comparison.

What lithium shipping documents should the RFQ request?

Ask suppliers to state what UN38.3, MSDS and related lithium transport documents they can provide for the quoted model, and to confirm report-to-model match in writing. Sephalis collects those supplier documents as evidence; it does not certify batteries, issue dangerous-goods approvals or arrange air cargo.
